Description: The story takes place in Morias, in the Peloponnese, on the eve of the revolution of 1821. Lampros, the son of a fearsome warrior, Stratos Kanakis, who inspires Greeks to fight against the Turkish armies with fiery words, is in love with the Turkish princess Aise, the daughter of the pasha of Kalavryta. The two youths face the mutual disapproval of both of their families, but they overcome their cultural differences as well as their religious ones when Aise is baptized a Christian and takes the name Eleftheria.
